There are four new lenses being announced by Tamron, all of them aimed at the serious and professional photographer.
New Lenses
Three new prime optics designed to partner Sony E-Mount full frame mirrorless cameras are being introduced, a 20 mm, 24 mm and 35 mm. Al come with the same maximum aperture of f/2.8 and what has become Tamron‘s standard filter size of 67 mm.
All three primes are designed to be compact in design and capable of close focusing, enabling them to deliver a magnification ratio of 1:2. Other features include moisture resistance for shooting outside in all weathers and a fluorine coating on the front element to allow for easy removal of such things as greasy fingerprints. They also support various camera features offered by certain Sony cameras, such as Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF.
Prices
The 24 mm and 35 mm optics will be launched later this month while the 20 mm will follow in January, 2020, and all three are priced at 360,00 USD. Meanwhile Tamron has also announced the development of a 70-180 mm f/2.8, a new high-speed telephoto zoom lens that will also partner Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, and this is expected to arrive in the market next spring.
Compact and lightweight, the optical design of the lens includes several specialised glass elements. That contribute to what‘s said to be an excellent optical performance, while the very short 0.85 m (33.5 in) MOD (Minimum Object Distance) expands overall versatility.
The lens adopts Tamron‘s newly developed VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus. This mechanism to enable a quiet, quick autofocus drive and other features include a Moisture Resistant Construction. Helpful for outdoor shooting and Fluorine Coating for easy maintenance.
The new model will join the 17-28 mm f/2.8 and the 28-75 mm f/2.8. And brings Tamron‘s total of f/2.8 zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras to three.
